The first event in the CEEPUS Popular Lectures in Bioethics series, titled “The World of Gattaca: Genetics and Eugenics in Film,” will take place on Saturday, December 13th, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The venue is the Theological College of Pécs (Pécs, Hunyadi Street 11, 3rd floor, Room 6).
Speakers Ivica Kelam, Zeljko Kaludjerovic, Dejan Donev and Gusztáv Kovács will explore the ethical issues raised by the film Gattaca, including genetic enhancement, eugenics, and the societal and moral challenges posed by future biotechnologies.
The event aims to foster dialogue among students, researchers, and the broader public about the ethical implications of modern genetic science.
