Jeffrey Dirk Wilson

Jeffrey Dirk Wilson is research associate professor of philosophy at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. His publications primarily focus on history of philosophy, classical metaphysics, and political thought. He edited Mystery and Intelligibility: History of Philosophy as Pursuit of Wisdom, published by The Catholic University of America Press in 2021. Other academic posts include Visiting Professor of Philosophy, Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow, Poland: Summer Semester 2024 and Non-Resident Professor, Instituto de Filosofía Edith Stein (Granada, Spain): 2021-2023. He serves on the Executive Council of the Metaphysical Society of America: 2018-present.

Before turning to the philosophical life, Dr. Wilson was a minister of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. (1979-2007) and served as pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in York, Pennsylvania (1983-2004). He also served as President of the County Council of Harford County (1990-94). He taught philosophy at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland (2007-09). In 2007, he was received into full communion with the Catholic Church. He holds degrees from Bowdoin College, Union Theological Seminary (New York), Oxford University, and The Catholic University of America. In addition, he has studied at Hamburg University, University of Edinburgh, and University of Paris (X) at Nanterre. He has three children and four grandchildren, two beagles and six cats. He lives and works on a family farm in Maryland, USA.
